L-arginine, a non-essential amino acid, plays a decisive role in many metabolic processes and has the highest nitrogen mass content of all proteinogenic amino acids. L-ornithine, a basic, non-proteinogenic amino acid, can be produced by the body itself and stimulates the release of insulin. As L-arginine works closely with L-ornithine, this combination offers a synergistic effect that is particularly popular with athletes.
