Bio wormwood herb ground

Wormwood herb (lat. Artemisia absinthium) is a shrub-like plant that can grow between 40 cm and one metre tall. It grows in various areas around the world, such as Central and Southern Europe, North Africa, Asia and North and South America. It can be found on wasteland or on stony embankments. The stem of the wormwood is grey-felt hairy and branched in the upper part. The leaves differ from bottom to top, with the lower, larger leaves having three leaflets and the upper leaves usually having only one or two leaflets. During the flowering period, yellow flowers can be seen on the wormwood herb, whose essential oils give it a characteristic and aromatic odour.

Among the various herbs, the wormwood herb contains the strongest bitter substances with a bitter value of between 15,000 and 25,000. The most effective components of the wormwood herb are the sesquiterpene bitter substances and various essential oils such as artemisinin and thujone. The twig tips reach the highest concentrations of these active ingredients during the flowering period.
