Erler Zimmer Bladder Catheterisation Simulator in detail
This set of training models for the education and training of transurethral bladder catheterisation in humans was named after Henri Dunant and Florence Nightingale to express our respect and appreciation for these historical figures in the nursing field. The naming also reflects the claim of these models to be a milestone in nursing training and to set new standards.
Both models are ideally suited for training in education and are characterised by the use of high-quality materials that are very close to the feel and look of a real person and yet are robust and hard-wearing. The lower body allows the insertion of both male and female genitals, whereby the anatomical position of the genitals and urethra has been strictly observed. The novel bladder can be placed flexibly in the body to create a perfect connection with both the female and male genitalia.
Due to the appropriate design of the shape of the bladder and the use of a novel valve in the bladder, no resistance is felt when inserting the catheter into the bladder, so that students cannot "feel" the correct insertion depth. This special feature clearly sets the model apart from other trainers with a conventional valve. The transparent bladder allows the position of the catheter and the blockage to be seen. In addition, the bladder is connected to a fluid supply bag so that fluid escapes if catheterisation is successful.
The male genitalia has a replaceable foreskin that can be moved just like in humans. This means that handling and hygiene can be practised. The model has the most realistic urethra of all catheterisation trainers currently available on the market. All four sections of the urethra are represented with the corresponding anatomical shape and realistic resistance during catheterisation. By attaching a strap, the narrowing of the prostate due to BPH or prostate cancer can be simulated and the resulting use of a larger or firmer catheter practised.
The female genitalia is designed in such a way that the flexible labia must be spread to find the urethral opening. The design of the urethral opening requires careful attention, as it is not immediately obvious, but requires appropriate care, just like with a real patient. The urethra offers realistic resistance when inserting the catheter.
The bladder catheterisation simulator Henri, male, is supplied with a transport bag.
The bladder catheterisation simulator Florence, female, is also supplied with a transport bag.
