Determining the age of a developing human skeleton is not a simple mathematical exercise of relating measurements to arrive at an estimated age. In fact, it is an elaborate and analytical assessment of all the bony elements related to the development of the anatomy. The average body size of this skeleton indicates an age of 8.5 to 9 months, but the osteological features show a most probable age of 7 to 7.5 months. It is not possible to reliably distinguish a male or female foetus on the basis of the bony remains. The size is approx. 40 cm.
