Vitamin B12 is a bioactive vitamin that consists of the forms methylcobalamin and adenosylcobalamin. These forms of vitamin B12 are fermented from plant substances and can be optimally absorbed by the body. They are also not affected by metabolic disorders. Adenosylcobalamin is produced from cyanocobalamin, which in turn is produced by fermentation. Both raw materials are of natural origin. Adenosylcobalamin is an active form of vitamin B12 that can be used immediately in the metabolism, whereas cyanocobalamin must first be metabolised into active forms. Methylcobalamin is a natural form of vitamin B12 that is also found in many foods. In the body, it is mainly found in cells and in the central nervous system. This active coenzyme form is required for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine.
