Erler Zimmer fetal skeleton, 30th week in detail
An outstanding and detailed fetal skeleton (including stand and base). Determining the age of a developing human skeleton is not a simple mathematical exercise in which measurements are placed in relation to each other to arrive at an estimated age. In fact, it is an elaborate and analytical assessment of all the bony elements related to the development of the anatomy. The average body size of this skeleton indicates an age of 8.5 to 9 months, but the osteological features show a most probable age of 7 to 7.5 months. It is not possible to reliably distinguish a male or female foetus on the basis of the bony remains. The size is approx. 40 cm.
