Glycilax for adults in detail
Active ingredients:
- 1000 mg glycerol 85%
Excipients:
- Cetomacrogol 1000
- Hard fat
- Magnesium carbonate, light, basic
- Bleached wax
Indication:
- For the treatment of constipation and painful defecation.
Dosage:
- Adults: insert 1-2 suppositories as required, an additional suppository can be used for persistent constipation.
Duration of use:
- A doctor should be consulted in the event of persistent or prolonged constipation.
Method of application:
- Insert suppository into the anus, if necessary hold briefly under cold water beforehand.
Side effects:
- Very rarely irritation of the rectal mucosa in sensitive individuals or pre-damaged mucosa.
Interactions:
- Concomitant use with other rectally applied drugs may reduce their absorption.
Contraindications:
- Do not use in case of intestinal obstruction or hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
- No known adverse effects during pregnancy or lactation.
Patient information:
- Caution in case of unclear abdominal pain (e.g. suspected appendicitis) and simultaneous use with condoms (may reduce tear resistance).
Further information:
- Constipation can be caused by poor dietary or lifestyle habits; medication should only be used if dietary measures are unsuccessful.
