L-proline is a non-essential amino acid. Your body can produce it itself, but the production of proline is not optimal in low-protein and vegetarian diets, which is why it must be supplied through food.
L-proline is responsible for the formation of collagen, the important structural protein that makes up human connective tissue, including skin, tendons, ligaments, joints, bones and blood vessels.
