Loperamid AL acute in detail
Loperamid AL akut is a proven medicine for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea. It acts quickly and effectively by slowing down intestinal movements and reducing water loss in the body.
Active ingredients:
- 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride
Excipients:
- Quinoline yellow
- iron(II,III) oxide
- Iron(III) oxide hydrate, black
- Magnesium stearate (vegetable)
- gelatine
- Maize starch
- 127 mg lactose-1-water
- titanium dioxide
- indigo carmine
- talc
Recommended use:
- For the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age.
- Adolescents from 12 years of age: 1 hard capsule at the beginning, then 1 hard capsule after each unformed stool, maximum 4 hard capsules per day.
- Adults: 2 hard capsules at the beginning, then 1 hard capsule after each unformed stool, maximum 6 hard capsules per day.
- Take capsules unchewed with liquid.
- Do not take for longer than 2 days without medical advice.
- If diarrhoea persists after 2 days, consult a doctor.
Special notes:
- Holiday time: Can stop diarrhoea quickly to save the holiday.
- Hygiene: Avoid spoilt food, wash hands frequently and disinfect contaminated surfaces.
- Children and the elderly: Particularly susceptible to dehydration from diarrhoea, ensure adequate hydration.

- Diarrhoea: Thin stools more than three times a day.
- Interactions: Consult your doctor if taking ritonavir, itraconazole, ketoconazole, quinidine, gemfibrozil or desmopressin.
- Overdosage: In case of overdosage, consult a doctor or hospital immediately; symptoms may include constipation and central nervous system disorders.
- Children: Loperamid AL acute must not be taken by children under 12 years of age.
