How does the active ingredient of the medicine work?

The active ingredient is used as a morning-after pill for emergency contraception. It delays or prevents ovulation through its influence on the progestogen hormone in the corpus luteum. It inhibits the binding of the endogenous sex hormone progesterone to the corresponding receptor (so-called selective progesterone receptor modulator - SPRM). This can prevent or delay ovulation in women. In addition, the formation of proteins that are necessary for the onset and maintenance of pregnancy is suppressed.
